- Writing the final report on the Rube Goldberg:
Your report should include the following elements:
- Identify clearly what the final task was
- List clearly all the energy transitions that took place
- Identify which of the simple machines were used
- Calculate for at least one of the elements how much energy was put INTO the piece and how much energy came OUT of the piece.
- Debrief: What worked? What didn't? What would you do differently?
- Due tomorrow in class.
Day 2
- Unit conversion and energy resources.
- Energy resources. What are the major sources of energy used in the "real world" today?
- We're going to do a research project -- investigating the issues around a particular energy resource, and presenting the results and issues to the rest of the class. Your work should take the form of a debate -- which ennergy source is "best"? Why? What are the benefits and drawbacks of your resource?
- Research time.
Day 3
- More unit conversion and energy resources
- Research time
Day 4
- Quiz on simple machines, energy, and unit conversion
